The ftz neurogenic control element drives expression of the calmodulin regulatory domain (plus flanking sequences) of Ggal\MLCK, tagged at the N-terminal end with Tag:MT(Khc) (to target the expressed protein to the growth cone when it is expressed in neurons). The expressed protein is expected to compete with other calmodulin target proteins for Ca[+2]-calmodulin and thus act to antagonize calmodulin-mediated signaling.
