ScerGAL4Gr64e.8 drives expression in about 12 sugar-sensing chemosensory neurons in the prothoracic leg. A subset of the leg neurons project to the ventral nerve cord then ascend through the cervical connective to the posterior gnathal gangion.

ScerGAL4Gr64e.8 drives expression in adult abdominal multidendritic neurons with with dorsal processes extending along the left-right axis, as well as in multidendritic neurons with lateral processes extending anteroposteriorly; these major processes have several protruding dendrites. Additionally, expression is driven in multidendritic neurons with ladder-like processes along the dorsal abdominal wall.

ScerGAL4Gr64e.8 is expressed in the sugar-responsive neuron of almost all of the short, intermediate and long taste sensilla of the labellum.

ScerGAL4Gr64e.8 is expressed in all the sugar-sensitive receptor neurons of the gustatory sensilla of the labellum.

ScerGAL4Gr64e.8 drives expression in the gustatory receptor neurons of a subset of the labellar taste pegs and bristles, the labral sense organ and taste bristles in the leg. The gustatory receptor neurons projections in the brain are also labelled with ScerGAL4Gr64e.8. These projections label the labial and pharyngeal nerves, and cervical connective and their entry point in the subesophageal ganglion. The projections of the gustatory receptor neurons labelled with ScerGAL4Gr64e.8 are located close to the projections of sugar-sensitive neurons.
