ScerGAL4Sur.PB expression was first detected at embryonic stage 13 in cardiac progenitor cells (embryonic cardioblasts) migrating to form the dorsal vessel. At stage 16, expression was seen in the dorsal vessel, with spots of intense expression spaced along its length. Some residual signal was also detected in a subpopulation of pericardial cells, and a few cells in the central nervous system.
