Reference

tHMG2-expression starts in spermatocytes and appears cytoplasmic. Following the meiotic divisions, nuclear expression is detected. It persists during spermatid elongation and is strongest in late elongating spermatid nuclei while the cytoplasmic signal fades. No expression is observed in mature sperm.
