ScerGAL4^{VGlut.VGN6341} drives expression mainly in the adult subsesophageal zone, with expression in ~12 neurons on each side of the adult pars intercerebralis that project into the subesophageal zone. In the adult subsesophageal zone there are two clusters of neurons each side of the midline, one medial and the other lateral. The medial cluster has 6 neurons on each side, 2 of which are motor neurons innervating muscles of the proboscis and the lateral cluster also has 6 neurons on each side, 3 of which are motor neurons innervating muscles of the proboscis, the remaining neurons of each are interneurons, including the bitter gustatory local interneuron. Expression is also seen in neurons, including leg motor neurons, of the thoracico-abdominal ganglion.

ScerGAL4^{VGlut.VGN6341} drives expression in 3-4 motor neurons that innervate the tibial depressor muscle and long tendon muscle 2 of the femur and 1-2 motor neurons that innervate the tarsal depressor muscle in the tibia.
