cryEGFP is expressed in the following Clk positive cells - 8 LNv neurons, six LNd neurons, ~eight DN1 neurons, ~two DN3 neurons, adult Malpighian tubules, adult hindgut cells and adult fat bodies - as well as ~twelve non-Clk neurons in the anterior central region of the adult cerebrum. cryEGFP is degraded in response to light, producing rhythms in protein abundance over time. When levels are highest, some protein is seen in neuron projections and in Malpighian tubules cytoplasmic expression cycles in response to light, peaking at night. In the larvae, it is present in cells of the salivary gland, but does not degrade in response to light.
