    The sequence flanking the 3' end of the P{PZ} insertion in the "l(2)09373" line maps to the 5' end of the gek gene. The sequence flanking the 5' end of the P{PZ} insertion in the "l(2)09373" line maps approximately 16kb upstream, to a site between the divergently transcribed genes CG4049 and CG3253. This suggests that the "l(2)09373" line either contains one P{PZ} insertion which is associated with a deletion of approximately 16kb, or two P{PZ} insertions which map approximately 16kb apart (Luo, 2001.9.24, personal communication to FlyBase indicates that the chromosome has a deletion rather than two P{PZ} insertions).
