Dfs_Exelixis_set1

A set of isogenic deficiency stocks created by FLP-induced recombination between FRT-carrying transgenic insertions; molecularly defined deletion endpoints correspond to initial location of the progenitor insertions. Initial set of 519 isogenic deletions provides 56% genome coverage.

The current Exelixis collection at the Bloomington Stock Center differs from the original described in FBrf0175003 : a significant number were shown not to carry a deletion and have been removed from the collection; a number of stocks have been lost; a number of additional deletions are included that were generated after publication.

Df(3L)Exel6103/Df(3L)Exel6104 mutant females lay only unfertilized eggs when crossed to Df(3L)Exel6103/Df(3L)Exel6104 males, but produce viable embryos and larvae when crossed to wild type males.

At the P14 pharate adult stage, the bursicon neuron somata in Df(3L)Exel6103/Df(3L)Exel6104 mutant animals are reduced in area and peripheral axon branching defects are seen. Bursicon neuron soma area is unchanged in shepBG00836/Df(3L)ED210 larvae compared to controls and there is no change in the number and size distribution of NMJ boutons.

Virgin Df(3L)Exel6103/Df(3L)Exel6104 mutant females display several sexual rejection behaviors, including decamping, failure to extend the wings to allow copulation, kicking to push males off during copulation and expulsion of seminal fluid after copulation.

Df(3L)Exel6104/Df(3L)Exel6105 transheterozygous mutants all die before the end of late pupal stage.
