Affected Genes Inferred by Location (0)
If no genes are listed here, it may be because the affected region is very large. The JBrowse insert above may show an error for the same reason, and other FlyBase tools such as CytoSearch may also fail for large regions. You can contact FlyBase for more help.
In these cases, there will be no "Export to Hitlist" button to the left.

Df(3R)smash35 homozygous embryos from Df(3R)smash35 homozygous mothers have severe defects in morphogenesis; they have missing, misplaced and malformed invaginations and furrows, and tubular organs form abnormally; they have delayed, then abnormal germ band extension; they have irregularly-shaped epidermis; apical-basal polarity of the neuroectodermal epithelium appears normal, but some markers of planar cell polarity (baz, cno, sqh) are disrupted compared to wild type controls and cell junctions have an irregular serpentine shape, rather than being straight as in wild type controls; they have reduced cortical tension (laser cutting experiments), compared to wild type controls. A fraction of these embryos complete embryogenesis without major morphogenetic defects and develop to adulthood; Df(3R)smash35 homozygous adults are weak and short-lived and frequently show defects in wing eversion; the survival rate is reduced in second generation homozygotes compared to the first generation (with heterozygous parents) and first generation survival is lower than that of controls.
