agn1 mutant larvae exhibit alterations in locomotor activity and abrupt alterations in tracks during spatial orientation. Larvae also have significant learning and memory defects during courtship.
LIMK1agn-ts3 mutants have no obvious morphological defects, but display differences in recombination rates on the X chromosome.
After 5 days at the restrictive temperature (29oC) ovaries of homozygous females have striking defects which are completely penetrant. The follicle cell epithelium is gapped in stage 5-6 egg chambers and the follicle cells appear more elongated and less cuboidal than is normal at this stage. No squamous follicle cells (stretch cells) are associated with the gaps in the epithelium. In later stages, the follicle cell epithelium is absent and bicnucleate germline-derived cells are seen. Rarely, single egg chambers contain large nurse cells in which three or more nuclei are present. Defects in oogenesis can be seen after only 2 days at the restrictive temperature. Females stop laying eggs after 5 days at the restrictive temperature.
Lethal and poor olfactory learning at 29oC. Cell divisions in the larval brain and the interrelated process of chromosome pairing, recombination and disjunction are defective.
Impaired cAMP metabolism.
Locomotor activity decreased and learning activity increased at 22oC, like dnc at 29oC.
LIMK1agn-ts3, ctC145 has egg chamber phenotype
Adenylate cyclase activity somewhat higher than normal at 22oC and readily activated at 29oC. Phosphodiesterase activity assayed in heat-pretreated homogenates higher than normal.
