Most embryos laid by brat1/bratfs3 mothers have 4 or 5 abdominal segments rather than the normal 8. Embryos laid by bratk06028/bratfs3 mothers have 5 to 8 abdominal segments. Most embryos laid by bratfs3/Df(2L)TE37C-7 mothers have 3 or 4 abdominal segments rather than the normal 8. Most embryos laid by bratfs3/bratfs1 mothers have 3 or 4 abdominal segments rather than the normal 8.

45-55% of hemizygotes eclose as adults at 25oC. Homozygous larval brain tissue transplanted into the abdomens of adult female hosts shows unrestrained and invasive growth.

Ovaries contain a large number of mature eggs and they are retained.
