Detailed Description

Melanisations are rare in pr-set71/Df(3R)red3l third instar larvae and are only found in the gut and cuticle.

pr-set71/pr-set720 escapers generally die soon after eclosion and the eye is reduced in size and irregular in these animals.

Rare adult escapers of lethality, when heterozygous with Df(3R)red3l, show rough eyes, notched wings and disorganised bristles. Lethality occurring befroe adulthood is pupal and prepupal.

Homozygous mutants die as late second instar larvae.
