Permeable eggs, which collapse and have a fragile chorion.

Most of the egg chambers of homozygous females develop into eggs that are laid (more than 30% of the wild-type number of eggs are laid per day). The eggs are usually permeable to neutral red and have fused appendages. The soma is wild-type. Transheterozygotes with either ovo^D2 or ovo^D3 have germ cells resembling early spermatocytes.

Gene activity is reduced. Viable. Male germ line is fertile, female germ line has permeable eggs.

Some eggs are laid and collapse due to fragile chorion.

The addition of otu^hs.PN to ovo^D1rv23/ovo^M1 or ovo^D1rv23/ovo^M2 mothers leads to an increase in the number of eggs produced, though in no case is hatching observed.

The sterility of ovo^M2/ovo^M2 and ovo^M2/ovo^e8K females is partially rescued if they are also carrying Sxl^M1. The partial sterility of ovo^M2/ovo^e7E females is rescued if they are also carrying Sxl^M1.
