      Heterozygotes with DrMio and Dr1 are semi-lethal, 10-30% adults survive to eclosion, surviving adults exhibit reduced eye, deranged bristle pattern on the thorax, abdomen, legs and wing margins and locomotor defects so the flies could hardly move.

      No cell division occurs in the ectoderm after the blastoderm stage in homozygotes.

      There is no evidence of chromosome condensation, nuclear envelope breakdown or spindle formation between 3 and 12 hours after egg deposition (at 25oC), in contrast to wild type embryos. Mutants show a nonspecific reduction in the number of differentiated cuticular structures.
