y3d males have significantly reduced mating success compared to control males. The Dp(1;f)1187 minichromosome rescues the mating success of these mutants. y3d adults show a reduction in pigmentation on the body, bristles and arista. The tarsal claws show a moderate decrease in pigmentation. However, wings are the normal grey colour. Larval mouth-part pigmentation is reduced.
Body colour: type 2 allele - some areas of cuticle are wild type, others have mutant pigmentation.
Body colour: body, bristles, yellow; wings grey. Larval mouth part colour: yellow; hooks, light.
