Detailed Description

Abl1 NrtM2 double mutant causes absence of most intersegmental longitudinal axon bundles and most commissural axon bundles. The loss of pros has an additive effect on the mutant phenotype. Loss of Abl function does not detectably alter pros mutant phenotype.

The minigene can successfully rescue Ace- lethality. In rescued flies all acetylcholinesterase activity is derived from the minigene. They display only 20-25% of wild type activity, and low levels of resistance to malathion.

Reduced viability with respect to wild type due to low enzyme activity.

Comments

Wild type flies transformed with the minigene construct have 120--130% of wild type enzyme activity and high levels of resistance to malathion.

The minigene provides only 20--30% of wild type activity, close to the threshold level for survival.
