Insertion of a P{lacZ} element.
Homozygous adults have no gross morphological abnormalities. These adults do not live for long after eclosion under crowded conditions in competition with wild-type siblings. Homozygous ana1 larvae show a reduced response to ethyl acetate in an olfactory assay compared to wild-type or ana1; ana+mEa larvae.
Variable phenotype, ranging from subtle misrouting of fiber tracts to massive disorganization of the adult optic lobes. BrdU experiments reveal that optic lobe neuroblasts enter S phase earlier than in normal development. Early proliferation also occurs in central brain neuroblasts. Neuronal differentiation also occurred early.
ana[+]/ana1 is a suppressor | partially of decreased occurrence of cell division | somatic clone | third instar larval stage phenotype of mir-124Δ177.w+
ana[+]/ana1 is a suppressor | partially of type I neuroblast | somatic clone | third instar larval stage phenotype of mir-124Δ177.w+
The mitotic index of type I mir-124Δ177.w+ neuroblast clones is restored to an almost normal value in a ana1/+ background.
Precise excisions of the P element resulted in reversion of the phenotype to wild type.
