    Cell lethal.

    The posterior scutellar bristle is displaced from its normal position in emcE12/emc11 flies. emcE12/emc11 neurA101 larvae have very low viability.

    emc11/emcE12 discs show an increased level of sc protein; clusters are similar to wild type though some are slightly enlarged. Strongly labelled nuclei are present scattered over the presumptive notum; they correspond to precursors of ectopic emc bristles.

    ac and sc protein patterns are subtly altered in the wing disc. Novel sites of ac and sc expression in the notal region that later coincide with ectopic sensory organs.

    emcE12 homozygous clones and emcE12/emc9 heterozygous clones are cell lethal in wing and notum cells. emcE12/emc1 heterozygous clones have an abnormal size, shape and spatial distribution: differentiate extra sensory elements as well as extra veins.

    The addition of ttkrM730/+ or Df(3R)awd-KRB to emcE12/+ animals leads to a weak ectopic wing margin bristle phenotype.

    Mutation enhances the ectopic scutellar bristle phenotype seen from Scer\GAL4455.2-mediated expression of l(1)scScer\UAS.cHa.
