The core of the myofibrillar lattice is well preserved in the indirect flight muscles of heterozygotes, although it is disrupted at the periphery, where the thick and thin filaments detach from the main core. The diameter of each myofibril is reduced to approximately 25 to 27 thick filaments. The core of myofibrils of the indirect flight muscles is reduced to 16 +/- 2.0 thick filaments in Tm23/Tm2C10 transheterozygotes.
