Construct: Zinc fingers 5 and 6 of Sry-δ has been replaced by the equivalent region from Sry-β, expression is driven by the Sry-δ promoter. This finger swap results in 36 of 58 amino acid changes of which 7 are conservative.

Introduction of the construct P{sryDB56,ry+} causes almost complete rescue of the lethality of Sry-δ- hemizygotes, males are fertile but females cannot give viable progeny although egg laying and ovary morphology are normal.
