cDNA containing entire coding region of gsb-n, driven by an Hsp70 promoter.
Groups of denticles or entire denticle belts are replaced with naked cuticle. Heat shocks from 2.75 to 3.25 hours transform complete segments while those after 4 hours transform parts of segments. Multiple heat shocks generate embryos with completely naked cuticles. Ectopic Keilin's organs sometimes develop. The CNS also shows fusion of two commissures in each segment and the elimination of the longitudinal connectives. RP2 neurons and EL neurons are eliminated in most segments and aCC and pCC are eliminated in some segments. CQ neurons are duplicated in some segments.
gsb-nhs.PZ rescues Df(2R)gsb
A series of three heat shocks almost completely rescues the mutant Df(2R)gsb cuticle phenotype.
