Homozygous embryos exhibit a decrease in numbers of neurons.

(Bhat et al., 1996)

Homozygous embryos exhibit loss of some of the dorsal MD and ES neurons and most of the lateral chordotonal (Lch) neurons. Homozygotes display rough eyes and decreased bristle numbers.

Comments

Initially thought to be a mutation in barr, a neighbouring gene with a related phenotype.

P{lacW} insertion can be excised and revert the lethal phenotype to wild type. Mild barr allele. Phenotypic analysis provides an allelic series: barr^k14014 < barr^k14028 < barr^k00310 < barr^k13903 < barr^k04805 < barr^k04912.
