taik15101/Df(2L)ED678 mutant adults are small and show a significant reduction in wing size, relative to controls.

The number of niche cap cells and the number of germline stem cells per germarium is increased compared to wild type in tai61G1/taik15101 females.

Homozygous escort stem cell clones lose their normal squamous shape and form a layer resembling a columnar epithelium adjacent to the stem cell niche in the germarium.

Homozygous clones induced in the somatic niche cap cells during niche formation result in germaria with substantially enlarged niches.
