tai61G1/tai61G1 mosaic adult wings are reduced in size relative to controls, and tai61G1/tai61G1 mosaic adult heads exhibit smaller head and eye size as compared to controls.

The number of niche cap cells and the number of germline stem cells per germarium is increased compared to wild type females transheterozygous for tai61G1 and either taiBG02711, taik15101, tai01351 or taiKG02309.

The number of germline stem cells per germarium is increased compared to wild type in tai61G1/taiEY11718 females.

Homozygous clones induced in the somatic niche cap cells during niche formation result in germaria with substantially enlarged niches.

Homozygous border cell clones show a fully penetrant border-cell migration defect.

Heterozygous egg chambers are indistinguishable from wild type. Border follicle cells show migration defects in stage 10 tai61G1/taik05809 egg chambers; in 74% of egg chambers they have migrated 76-100% the normal distance, in 15% they have migrated 51-75% the normal distance, in 6% they have migrated 26-50% the normal distance and in 5% they have migrated 0-25% the normal distance.

In some egg chambers containing homozygous clones, border cell migration is completely inhibited, and the border cells remain at the anterior tip of the egg chamber at stage 10. In other egg chambers, the border cells undergo partial migration. Border cell clusters that undergo partial migration are typically composed of a mixture of heterozygous and homozygous cells. tai01351/tai61G1 escapers show border cell migration defects and reduced fertility.

tai61G1/tai61G1, exe1/exe1 mosaic adult wings are smaller than exe1/exe1 mosaic wings, although the wings are still a broader shape than controls; tai61G1/tai61G1, exe1/exe1 clones in the L3 wing disc appear smaller than age-matched exe1/exe1 clones; tai61G1/tai61G1, exe1/exe1 mosaic heads have suppressed head and eye overgrowth as compared to exe1/exe1 clones.

tai61G1/tai61G1 clones lead to reduced head and eye size in flies expressing ykiS168A.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-YFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU.

The presence of tai61G1/+ suppresses the enlarged wings of adult females expressing crbintra.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU.

About 6% of Pvf1EP1624 tai61G1 double heterozygous egg chambers have border cell migration defects. The border cells migration defects caused by expression of Pvf1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 are enhanced by tai61G1/+; 90% of double mutant stage 10 egg chambers show border cell migration defects. The border cells migration defects caused by expression of Pvf1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 are enhanced by tai61G1/taik05809; all the double mutant egg chambers show border cell migration defects.
