The ability of nosnos.+2.Hsp83 to rescue abdominal segmentation of nosBN embryos is severely compromised in a rump1/Df(3R)by416 background; more than 90% of the embryos develop fewer than 4 abdominal segments.

Embryos derived from vas1/vas3 females carrying nosnos.+2.Hsp83 do not produce any abdominal segments.

Comments

Embryos derived from nosBN females carrying nosnos.+2.Hsp83 develop well demarcated gonads containing morphologically normal germ cells. Female adults that develop from these embryos show similar egg production to age matched controls.

nosnos.+2.Hsp83 partially rescues the abdominal defects of nosBN embryos, such that most develop 4 or more abdominal segments and over 30% are nearly wild type, with 7 to 8 segments.

nosnos.+2.Hsp83 rescues the abdominal segmentation defect of embryos derived from nosBN females; 2% of embryos have 4-6 abdominal segments and 98% have 7-8 abdominal segments.

98% of embryos derived from nosBN females carrying nosnos.+2.Hsp83 develop wild-type anterior structures and 7-8 abdominal segments.
