Expression of y^+mDint2 is reduced (in a background of reduced su(Hw)⁺) by the expression of tethered Pc, Scm or esc. In the case of Pc^{hs.T:su(Hw)-ZnF,T:Zzzz\FLAG}, the effect is seen without the use of heat shock. For Scm^{hs.T:su(Hw)-ZnF,T:Zzzz\FLAG} and esc^{hs.T:su(Hw)-ZnF,T:Zzzz\FLAG} heat shock must be applied daily. Expression in the body cuticle is less sensitive to repression than in the wing cuticle.
