Detailed Description
Statement

Homozygous and ctpexc6/Df(1)JC70 neuroblasts show defects in mitotic spindle orientation. Among the homozygous neuroblasts with misoriented spindles, 62% lack astral microtubules.

The following transheterozygotes exhibit thin bristles and erect wings: ctpexc6/ctpexc39, ctpexc6/ctpexc123, ctpexc6/ctpDIIB14, ctpexc6/ctpexc41, ctpexc6/ctpDIA5, ctpexc6/ctpins1 and ctpexc6/ctpDIIA82.

Homozygous embryos do not develop past stage 10. Degenerating embryos exhibit disorganised cellular morphology (degradation of genomic DNA) and cytoplasmic condensation and fragmentation, indication of programmed cell death. Homozygous ctpins1 females exhibit disorganisation of ovarioles and egg chambers, disorganisation is more severe when transheterozygous with ctpexc6.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

ctpexc6 mud1 double mutant neuroblasts have more severe mitotic spindle orientation defects than either single mutant.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Expression of Hsap\DNCL1Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32, rescues the lethality and the thin bristle and erect wing phenotypes of ctpexc6 hemizygous mutants.

Complementation and Rescue Data
Comments

Expression of ctpScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-YFP.Venus under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 rescues the spindle misorientation phenotype seen in ctpexc6 neuroblasts.

Expression of ctpScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-YFP.Venus,T:Uuuu\CAAX under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 fails to rescue the spindle misorientation phenotype seen in ctpexc6 neuroblasts.
