Adults expressing klu^Scer\UAS.cYa under the control of Scer\GAL4^GMR.PF have dramatically reduced eyes with large black patches (indicating cell death). There is no distinct lens and there are severe disruptions in development of the bristles of the eye. 42 hours after puparium formation, specific cell types in the retina are virtually unidentifiable by morphology and there is a high level of ectopic cell death.

Embryos expressing klu^Scer\UAS.cYa under the control of Scer\GAL4^ftz.ng do not have a mature RP2 neuron in 82% of hemisegments.
