P{lacW} insertion 55bp downstream of the first ATG codon.
CSN4k08018 mutant female germline stem cell (GSC) clones are lost from the niche much more quickly than wild type controls. No dramatic increase in apoptosis is seen in GSCs or cysts compared to controls. The remaining CSN4k08018 mutant GSCs are able to differentiate correctly into germ cell cysts.
Oogenesis is normal in CSN4k08018/+ flies.

One copy of CSN4k08018 dramatically suppresses the increase in the number of undifferentiated cystoblasts seen in bamz3-2884/bamΔ86 mutants, dramatically increasing the number of differentiated cysts containing a branched fusome and the number of normal egg chambers per ovariole.
The ovaries of CSN5L4032/CSN4k08018 transheterozygotes exhibit apoptosis and extra cell division of nurse cells, as well as fused egg chambers. The penetrance of these phenotypes can exceed 50%. Unlike either single heterozygote, nurse cells in CSN4k08018; Rpn6k00103 transheterozygous females exhibit ectopic apoptosis, incorrect numbers of mitotic divisions and fusions of neighbouring egg chambers.
