The three Brd boxes in the Brd 3' UTR have been mutated from AGCTTTA to ATAGGGA and the last five bases of the GY box in the Brd 3' UTR have been mutated from CTTCC to AGGAA.

      Some transgenic lines carrying Brdmut123+GYmut in a wild-type background show a fully penetrant bristle tufting phenotype, including strong effects on orbital, ocellar, anterior dorsocentral and anterior sternopleural macrochaetae. Ectopic bristles are present as tufts in the normal positions of single sensory organs and include both sockets and shafts.
