Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

No defects in R-cell differentiation or in the organisation of the R-cell clusters is seen in homozygous eye imaginal discs.

Homozygous third instar larvae show severe defects in R-cell axon pathfinding; most, if not all R-cell axons are present in abnormally large bundles in the lamina and medulla, causing the appearance of hypo- and hyper-innervated regions. The terminal field is much smaller than wild type, the R7 and R8 growth cones fail to expand (most of them cannot be identified individually). The majority of R2-R5 axons terminate correctly within the lamina.

The differentiation and migration of the laminal glial cells appears largely normal in homozygous third instar larvae, although they appear less organised than normal and their density in the lamina is increased compared to wild type.

Homozygous clones in the eye are wild-type.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Heterozygosity for bure10 enhances the "held-out wing" phenotype of Usp7Δ35 hemizygotes.

The R-cell axon projection defects caused by expression of Rac1L89.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF are enhanced by bure10/+.

The axonal hyperfasciculation phenotype in the lamina and medulla caused by expression of Rac1N17.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is enhanced by bure10/+.
