        Mutant females show 43% fertility. Overall structure of the ovaries is similar to that of wild type flies, but egg chambers with abnormal number of nurse cells are often detected.

        Null mutation. Level of emc mRNA is increased more than 10 fold compared to wild type. Level of CycE and 3.1kb and 1.9kb Sxl mRNA is unaffected. 4.1kb Sxl transcript is decreased, possibly acting through the effect of elevated emc on da/sc dimers.
