Malpighian tubules are not fully elongated in mutant embryos. The large intestine is collapsed. Germband retraction and dorsal closure are incomplete.
Isolation: rawk03703 was identified in the 'l(2)k03703' line. A deficiency uncovering the site of the P{lacW}rawk03703 insertion complements the 'l(2)k03703' chromosome for lethality and does not produce embryos with the defects characteristic of the homozygous 'l(2)k03703' line. This suggests that the rawk03703 mutation is not caused by the P{lacW}rawk03703 insertion.
