Eggs from ttktwp germline clones have normal appendage formation at S14.

Eggs from ttktwp follicular epithelial clones have short appendages at S14.

At S13, dorsal appendage forming follicle cells do not re-expand apical surfaces and shorten lateral surfaces in ttktwp mutants. Nevertheless the basal cell surfaces migrate anteriorly and thin, elongated cells form, as seen in controls.

Eggs chambers from homozygous mutant mothers, initiate but fail to complete, dorsal appendage morphogenesis. While two appendages initially form with proper spacing, these appendages fail to extend to their normal length. Up to stage 11 egg chambers have a normal morphology. In stage 12 mutant egg chambers, chorion proteins are not deposited normally however follicle cells do initiate morphogenesis. the degree of cell movement is similar to wild-type at this stage. Stage 13 mutant egg chambers display a severe defect in follicle cell movement, and dorsal appendages have not extended past the degenerating nurse cells at the anterior end of the egg chamber. Eggs from mutant mothers are also abnormally short and round, with a thin and fragile chorion. Eggs chambers from hemizygous (over Df(3R)awd-KRB), and ttktwp/ttk1e11 mutant mothers, initiate but fail to complete, dorsal appendage morphogenesis. ttktwp/ttk1 eggs exhibit a weak dorsal appendage phenotype, with 12% show some defect.

Egg chambers have rudimentary nubs in place of dorsal appendages.
