Expression of trbl^EPg35131 under the control of Scer\GAL4^{nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16} (the animals are initially raised at 18^oC and are then shifted to 29^oC after 7 days) causes spermatogonia to continue mitotic proliferation at the expense of differentiation. This defect is seen in at least 50% of testes examined.

Overexpression of trbl^EPg35131 under the control of Scer\GAL4^{nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16} results in more than 90% of egg chambers containing 32-cell cysts (resulting from one extra division) that contain one oocyte with 5 ring canals (wild-type number is 4). The egg chambers are slightly larger than normal. 40% of embryos derived from these females hatch.
