Expression of pimdba.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4wor.PA results in mitotic catastrophe in larval neuroblasts, including multinucleation and drastically increased cell diameter. Some loss of neuroblasts is seen.
When driven by Scer\GAL4nos.bcd3'UTR.T:Scer\GCN4, pimdba.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC blocks sister chromatid separation in developing embryos producing diplo-chromosomes. Early divisions are normal, the mitotic spindles are present and the congression of chromosomes to the metaphase is also normal. At the highest levels the abolition of sister chromatid separation appears complete, however at lower levels aberrant anaphase and telophase figures are seen and chromatin bridges are frequent. When pimdba.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC,Scer\GAL4da.G32 embryos are treated with colcemid during cycle 16, exhibit the presence of diplochromosomes, unlike in controls.
