Homozygotes survive until the larval-pupal transition. 28.8% of nuclei in homozygous larval brain neuroblasts show chromosome undercondensation (under condensation of heterochromatin as well as euchromatin is seen). Additional mitotic defects such as premature sister chromatid separation, polyploidy, aneuploidy and chromosome breakage are also seen. Similar defects are seen in slse4/slsg65 larvae. Homozygous embryos contain unfused myoblasts and disorganised muscle and have gut morphogenesis defects (the midgut constrictions fail to form).
