Deletion of some Dvir\nonA 3' untranslated sequences.
D.melanogaster flies carrying Dvir\nonAΔ113 in a nonA+ background have a normal optomotor response.
Dvir\nonAΔ113 is a suppressor of abnormal optomotor response phenotype of nonA9e2-10
Dvir\nonAΔ113, nonA9e2-10 has abnormal song phenotype
Dvir\nonAΔ113 is a suppressor of phenotype of nonAunspecified
The song characteristics of D.melanogaster nonA9e2-10/Y males carrying Dvir\nonAΔ113 show D.virilis-like features while maintaining indicators of "normal" D.melanogaster song output such as the subtle change in PF (intrapulse frequency) during a song burst. The flies also appear to have a D.virilis-like shorter IPI (interpulse interval), even though the other characteristics of the song pulses that have been measured should, indirectly, lead to a longer IPI, suggesting that Dvir\nonA+t12.5 is playing an active role in reducing IPIs.
