A majority of fwsKG02853/fwsKG02853 and fwsKG02853 hemizygous males are sterile. Sterile fwsKG02853/fwsKG02853 males show lack of mature sperm in the seminal vesicles. Meiotic cytokinesis and post-meiotic cyst elongation in fwsKG02853/fwsKG02853 mutant males are normal, there is some scattering of nuclei and investment cones in mutant cysts, the majority of elongated spermatids do not form acrosomes, and there are defects in the perinuclear acroblast, as compared to controls.
