3 hours after a 30 minute heat shock to induce expression of Tbhhs.PS, flies have a shortened fighting latency, increased lunging frequency and increased high-intensity fighting (holding, boxing and tussling) compare to control flies when two flies are placed in a small closed chamber containing a food pad at the centre.
TbhnM18 females which are carrying Tbhhs.PS are completely sterile at 18oC and lay a few eggs at 25oC. These females start laying eggs within a few hours of a single heat shock (37oC for 1 hour) and continue to lay eggs for almost 3 days. The rhythmicity of egg laying in the heat shocked females is the same as that of wild-type females. The fertility of these females is 50-60% that of wild type.
