mesothoracic tergum & microchaeta, with Scer\GAL4neur-P72
sensory mother cell & filopodium, with Scer\GAL4neur-P72
Embryos expressing Hsap\Vil21-280.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 during gastrulation exhibit epithelial defects (approximately 41% of the time). In particular, cellularisation is normal, with adherens junctions forming properly, but shg is absent from around the apical junction region.
In Hsap\Vil21-280.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP; Scer\GAL4neur-P72 flies, sensory organ precursors in wing disc cells at the time puparium formation have significantly shorter filopodia than wild-type, but appear otherwise phenotypically normal. Adults of this genotype show a 20% increase in microchaete density. This increases to 40% when expression is driven using Scer\GAL4klu-G410. Neither of these genotypes cause a significant increase in macrochaete numbers, but 30% of Hsap\Vil21-280.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP; Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 flies have an ectopic third bristle between heterochronic pairs of macrochaete.
