Rapid amplification of cDNA ends (3' RACE) analysis shows that the vector in the BG02836 line is spliced to the A2bp1 gene contradicting the BDGP prediction at 18C8 in the Pfrx gene. Although a Southern blot experiment shows only one insert, two signals are observed in polytene chromosome in situ hybridisation, one at ~18D1 and one at ~67E. This suggests that there are two insertions in the BG02836 line.
