Gabat^PL00338/Gabat^PL00338 males show significant increases in both day and night time sleep, with a increase in the fraction of sleep spent in long (>150min) sleep episodes and a significant decrease in sleep bout number at night compared to controls. Mutant flies show a significant decrease in sleep latency compared to controls. Activity per waking minute is similar to controls in mutants. Mutants generally show normal circadian rhythms, compared to wild type.

Gabat^PL00338/Gabat^PL00338 mutant adult males display severely reduced survival as compared to wild type when reared on a sucrose only diet.
