amnioserosa & actin filament
embryo | dorsal closure stage (with jarR235)
Many jarR235/jarR39 embryos fail to complete dorsal closure. Those which complete dorsal closure die during the first larval instar. Germband retraction is incomplete in some jarR235/jarR39 embryos. Homozygous embryos fail to complete dorsal closure, resulting in embryos with exposed yolk and loose cells escaping. The cells of the amnioserosa are detached. In some embryos that fail to complete dorsal closure, the actin filaments of the amnioserosa are disassociated. At the leading edge, some regions of the actin cable are destroyed, many of the cells are not elongated and the organisation of the row of cells at the front of the leading edge is disrupted. Cells with aberrant shape are also seen in the border regions between segments.
