Description

Excision of P{EP}cvEP1349 resulted in generation of a deletion extending from the P-element insertion site past the ATG start site codon to the second intron of cv.

Excision of P{EP}cvEP1349 resulted in generation of a deletion extending from the P-element insertion site past the ATG start site codon to the second intron of cv, approximately 1056bp downstream from the translation start site.

Detailed Description

cv43 mutant pupal wings lack the presumptive posterior crossvein but the organization of the extracellular matrix appears unperturbed.

The number of fibers in the tergal depressor of trochanter (TDT) muscles is reduced in addition to the morphology of these muscles being abnormal in cv1/cv43 or homozygous cv43 females. The initial specification of TDT founders is normal in cv43 mutants. The first defects in cv43 mutants become apparent at 16 hours after puparium formation (APF), when there are slightly fewer TDT founder cells compared to wild-type.

The posterior crossvein is absent in cv43 mutants.

Jump tests reveal that the jumping distance of hemizygous cv43 males is reduced by about 21% compared to wild-type controls.

cv43 flies exhibit a loss of the anterior and posterior crossveins.

The ability of scwgbb.PF to rescue the loss of posterior crossvein which is seen in Dp(2;2)DTD48, gbb4/gbb4 flies is completely suppressed in a cv43 background.

The weak dpp10638/+ tergal depressor of trochanter (TDT) muscle phenotype is enhanced by cv43/+, because the TDT fiber count is further reduced relative to dpp10638/+ single heterozygotes.

The combination of cv43/+ and Df(2R)BSC136/+ results in significant reductions in TDT fiber numbers.
