Deletion of the nucleotides GATCC and the insertion of TCTACCA results in a frameshift after amino acid 611. The deletion removes the C-terminal CaaX box.

The substitution of TCTACCA for GATCC starting at codon 611 of Lam leads to a frameshift. This leads to early translation termination after the addition of 26 novel amino acids.

LamA25 adults have some defective ommatidia in the eye. However, the eye discs of LamA25 third instar larvae are indistinguishable from wild-type. LamA25/Df(2L)cl-h4 adults have a more severe eye morphology defect than LamA25 mutants, with misshapen rhabdomeres. Additionally, in the eye discs of LamA25/Df(2L)cl-h4 third instar larvae, there is a defective nuclear migration phenotype in which the nuclei of R-cells are spread throughout the apical/basal axis of the disc, instead of being exclusively apical, as in wild type.
