FLP-mediated recombination between fruC-5'half and fruX-3'half has produced a fru gene with an FRT site inserted about 0.6 Kb 3' to the S exon.
fruC/fru4-40 males exhibit normal levels of courtship behaviour towards females and show no competitive advantage or disadvantage in competition with wild-type males for copulation with a wild-type virgin female. fruC/fru4-40 do not show any increase in courtship of other males compared to wild-type and do not form into mating chains. fruC/fru4-40 females are fertile, and behave as wild-type in copulation assays.
fru[+]/fruC is a non-enhancer of abnormal courtship behavior | male phenotype of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, traUAS.cFa
fru[+]/fruC is a non-suppressor of abnormal courtship behavior | male phenotype of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, traUAS.cFa
The reduction in courtship behaviour seen in traScer\UAS.cFa; Scer\GAL4elav.PLu males is unaffected by fruC/+.
