In ArkH16 embryos, acridine orange-positive cell death and caspase-3-like activity are significantly reduced, but not completely blocked.

Stage 17 ArkH16 embryos contain on average 10.7 midline glia cells per segment, compared to 3 such cells in wild type.

The WGMR.PG eye ablation phenotype is strongly suppressed when eyes carry homozygous clones for ArkH16.

Vps25N55/ArkH16 mosaics exhibit non-autonomous cell proliferation. Vps25N55/ArkH16 cells undergo apoptosis. Vps25N55/ArkH16 clones cannot be recovered in the adult eye. Vps25N55/ArkH16 clones occupy a large fraction of the eye discs, suggesting that these clones have no intrinsic growth disadvantage over wild-type tissue if cell death is blocked. The adult eye of Vps25N55/ArkH16 mosaics is severely overgrown and folded.
