At non-permissive temperatures (29[o]C) in the presence of Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B, Scer\GAL4ppk.PG overexpression of IKKεScer\UAS.cKa leads to dendrite severing and apoptosis in larval neurons (no phenotype at 25[o]C).

Larvae carrying ik2Scer\UAS.cKa and Scer\GAL4ppk.PG in the presence of Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B show normal ddaC neuron morphology at 25[o]C (the permissive temperature for Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B, which inhibits Scer\GAL4). However, upon shifting to 29[o]C (to relieve the inhibition of Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B on Scer\GAL4ppk.PG), precocious dendrite severing is triggered in the proximal dendrites of some larval ddaC neurons. In addition, some cell death is seen in these neurons, characterised by the blebbing of dendrites and axons.

Expression of ik2Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC in flies, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, causes a severe eye-ablation phenotype due to cell death in the eye.

Expression of ik2Scer\UAS.cKa, under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-P309, results in the presence of extra macrochaetae on the adult notum and extra sensory organ precursors in the wing disc.
