Comment:

Deletion of 235bp, which results in a frameshift after amino acid residue 545 and adds 25 novel amino acid residues. The position of the deletion was unspecified and is approximate. Estimated to be within +/- 2 bases of actual position.

Internal deletion of 235bp of coding sequence, resulting in a frameshift at amino acid residue 545, which truncates the protein prior to the second THIF domain and results in the addition of 25 novel amino acid residues.

Detailed Description

Uba1A1/+ mutant flies display a significant decrease in lifespan as compared to wild type.

Eyes containing Uba1A1 homozygous somatic clones exhibit a non-autonomous overgrowth phenotype.

Homozygous clones in the eye result in overgrowth of surrounding wild-type tissue.

A Ras85De1B/+ background dramatically suppresses the non-autonomous overgrowth phenotype found in Uba1A1 mosaic eye clones.

A Akt104226/+ background has no effect on the non-autonomous overgrowth phenotype found in Uba1A1 mosaic eye clones.

Mosaic eyes in which cells homozygous for Uba1A1 signal to cells homozygous for the mutation PTP-ERf02707 resulting in a dramatic overgrowth phenotype where they also exhibit additional outgrowths in the PTP-ERf02707 mutant tissue compared to mosaic eyes in which Uba1A1 cells signal to wild-type cells. These outgrowths contain cuticle-like tissue as well as recognizable ommatidia with red pigment.

The overgrowth phenotype that is caused by homozygous clones in the eye is enhanced by Df(3L)H99/+ and is suppressed by th6B/+.

Homozygous hpoMGH1 clones in the eye result in an increase in the overall size of the eye. When the twin-spot is composed of Uba1A1 tissue, the overgrowth is enhanced.
